The county capital is Puigcerdà. Cerdanya County spans part of Lleida province and part of Girona province, and mainly consists of the upper valley of the River Segre, a sunny, east-west facing valley that is one of the largest in Europe. The diverse nature of the landscape combines Mediterranean features, sub-Mediterranean forests, and Alpine meadows.
It is an ideal place for hiking, fishing, mountain biking, Alpine or cross-country skiing, etc.
