The tramway train made its first journey on 23 March 1887. It was conducted by a Belgian steam locomotive pulling tiny wagons several kilometres alongside the road. Today, the road covers part of what was once the
railway; the trail stretch conditioned as a greenway, however, will allow you to explore the same Empordanet landscapes described by
Josep Pla and to cross the Aubí plain, of great agricultural value and surrounded by the reliefs of the massif of Les Gavarres and the mountains of Begur. The current route crosses the municipal terms of Palamós, Mont-ras and Palafrugell, with branches in Vall-llòbrega and on the beaches of Castell and la Fosca.
